SG Petch Hyundai technician Lee Wilkinson, became an Olympic Champion at the 8th annual Hyundai World Skill Olympics.
Despite entering at short notice Lee, who is based at SG Petch Darlington, came 1st in the UK and achieved 8th overall position in the world rankings.
Since the first event held in Korea in 1995, the goal of Hyundai World Skill Olympics has been to improve technicians skills and to promote mutual understanding between Hyundai Motor Company and technicians.
The technical skills of a technician is the most valuable asset of any service operation. Hyundai believe the World Skill Olympics allow technicians to learn about the procedure, schedule, facilities and other necessary information concerning this event.
On receiving his winning medal Lee said: "With the growth in technology, today's vehicles demand higher service skills in order to ensure they perform to their engineering potential and meet the expectations of our customers".
He added: "Not only was i was delighted to have taken part but was even happier to win it".
